Major Extension to Culloden 1746 Conservation Area
/Campaigners, including this Trust and the "Group to Stop the Development at Culloden" were delighted when Highland Council announced the approval of a major extension to the conservation area surrounding Culloden Battlefield, which brings with it reassurances of the council's commitment to preserving the integrity of this major cultural asset.
It comes after more than two years of campaigning for greater protection at Culloden, triggered by the Scottish Government's approval of plans to develop houses within the battlefield area, plans previously rejected by the local authority.
