East Lothian Battle Weekend 2019
Join us for a weekend of events and re-enactment, bringing to life the dramatic events of the famous Battle of Dunbar in 1650, when Oliver Cromwell’s forces crushed the last army of the Covenant.
Join us for a special evening in Dunbar’s historic battery fort, remembering the soldiers who fought at the Battle of Dunbar.
Join an officer from 1650 on a walk from Dunbar’s historic centre to the heart of the battlefield, the Monument, where a wreath laying will then take place to mark the anniversary.
Join Ian Skinner of Melrose Historical & Archaeological Association for a guided walk around this important but little known battlefield in the Scottish Borders, meeting in front of Melrose Parish Church at 1.30 pm.
Meet soldiers from 1650 as they prepare for the invasion by Oliver Cromwell, marking the launch of the ‘Bodies of Evidence’ exhibition.
