Dunbar 1650 Remembered

The anniversary of the Battle of Dunbar was marked today with a guided walk and a wreath laying commemoration at the battlefield monument.

The walk, running for its second year, was well-attended and saw visitors follow the route of Cromwell’s attack column as they headed over the Broxburn ford. Stops at the Parish Church and Deer Park allowed views across to the Scottish positions, and at Broxmouth lodge there was a description of the skirmishing which preceded the main battle.

At the moment, a wreath was lain in memory of those who fought and fell at the Battle of Dunbar and in its aftermath. A silence was held in honour all those who fell at Dunbar 1650, Worcester 1650, and all engagements of the Civil Wars.
