Dunbar 1650 Project off to a good start

With the support of Historic Environment Scotland, we are working hard on a new interpretation trail and community engagement plan for the highly significant Dunbar 1650 Battlefield in East Lothian.

We're proposing an interpreted walk from the town centre to the battlefield monument, and a programme of supporting activities. The proposals were presented to the Dunbar and District Local History Society, Townhouse Museum, and the East Lothian Community Heritage Forum, and after receiving an enthusiastic response the research and design process is well underway, with work hoped to begin "on the ground" in the summer. There will be some accompanying archaeological work as well.

We've set up a Facebook page specifically for people to keep track of Dunbar 1650 activities and news: https://www.facebook.com/dunbar1650

We are also setting up a supporting website, and although it is still a work in progress the site is live at www.dunbar1650.info

Go to our events calendar and you'll also see that we're holding a walk and commemoration on Monday 3rd September, kicking off a year of activity leading up to 2019's East Lothian Battle Weekend at Dunbar.
