Discussions over Sheriffmuir (1715) and Rullion Green (1666)
/The Scottish Battlefields Trust is engaged in worthwhile conversations with teams from the University of Edinburgh, which own land on and adjoining both the Sheriffmuir and Rullion Green battlefields. At both sites, the university intends to enhance biodiversity and access through the development of new habitat zones and woodland areas and improved access potential. In both cases the university has been proactive in seeking consultation, including with the SBT.
The Trust has considered both proposals and responded directly with the project teams. In both cases we are satisfied that the proposals will, on balance, be of benefit to the landscapes and will not have negative impacts on the battlefields. Both projects are expected to include the installation of interpreation relating to the battle, and we have agreed to liaise with the university as this is developed.
