Soldiers and Stories of 1650

As part of East Lothian Local History & Archaeology Fortnight, we ran a very succesful afternoon of public engagement in Lauderdale Park, Dunbar.

The event, led by members of The Lothian Levy (Alan Breck’s Regiment), gave a chance for visitors old and young to find out about the clothing, weaponry and events of the Cromwellian invasion of 1650.

We welcomed 55 people to our canvas shelter, and enjoyed a number of fascinating conversations. As we had hoped, some people were completely new to the story of the Battle of Dunbar, whilst others were well-versed in their history and came to discuss the engagement in detail. All seemed to really enjoy the opportunity.
