ALL THE LATEST NEWS FROM SCOTTISH BATTLEFIELDS
Two weeks ago we heard some worrying proposals for a major development around the site of events on the first day of the Battle of Bannockburn 1314.
We're relieved to say that after a consultation event, attended by friends in the Battlefields Trust and from the National Trust for Scotland, it appears the Stirling Council are currently keen to see that the integrity of the Milton Ford area is maintained.
We will keep our ears open nonetheless, but it seems in the meantime that a feared threat has been avoided.
IF YOU KNOW OF A BATTLEFIELD WHICH NEEDS SUPPORT, then contact us.
Plans to develop a large substation compound on the western section of Prestonpans Battlefield are being actively opposed by the Trust, in coordination with the Battle of Prestonpans (1745) Heritage Trust.Read More
The Scottish Battlefields Trust is only a few months old, but we've already attracted 1,159 followers on Facebook and so a website seemed like the next natural step.
The site is still under construction of course, and new pages will start to spring up as the weeks go. Be sure to look out for them.
You can sign up for news notifications too - but do bear with us if there are any teething troubles for those noble pioneers who do so first!
We're now open for memberships, and details will be posted up soon about how you can get involved with us. We'll also be launching a calendar to collate details of Battlefield events happening in Scotland - not just our own, but any which might be of interest.
So in short there is lots to watch out for, so please keep coming back!
